It is no secret that 2020 was a challenging year with the pandemic having hit the world economy hard. Techint Group company budgets were also impacted. However, the community relations structure was solid, having strengthened its efforts to offer greater support to the communities where it operates, with a big focus on health and medical supplies. The 2020 Community Relations Annual Report gives us an overview of these actions.
“For over 70 years, the Techint Group has been known for its ability to foster close relationships with the communities where it operates,” says Paolo Rocca in his introductory letter to the Techint Group 2020 Community Relations Report. “COVID-19 pandemic was a major challenge for all of us, but we focused above all on our people, seeking to protect the health of our employees and our communities.”
The total 2020 Community Relations budget ammounted to $36.3 million USD in 19 different countries, supporting local health systems and continuing with education and cultural programs.
Out of this sum, 16.2 USD million were allocated for the purchase of health supplies and infrastructure to support during the COVID-19 pandemic. Educational and cultural programs were redesigned in view of the new context and almost 15 million USD were invested with 19,000 alumni and teachers from 55 different communities having benefitted from the programs. At the same time, Techint Group companies continued to support cultural programs through Fundación PROA in Argentina and Fondazione Dalmine in Italy.
