Who we are

In 80 years of activity, the companies of the Techint Group have evolved, building upon the vast amount of experience gained in such areas as steelmaking; building of complex infrastructures; design and construction of industrial plants and machinery; technologies for the metals and mining industries; oil & gas exploration and production and research-oriented health facilities. Our story

History

  • 1945

    Techint Group Foundation

    “Compagnia Tecnica Internazionale” - soon named TECHINT after the original telex code - was founded as an international corporation.
  • 1949

    Techint E&C development

    The company began providing engineering services to clients in Europe and Latin America. Construction activities soon followed, among them the southern gas pipeline in Argentina, inaugurated in 1949. In the ‘80s Techint completed a series of major projects in Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico, and diversified into new markets. In 2000, Techint began the construction and subsequent operation of the Camisea gas and LNG pipeline system in Peru.
  • 1954

    Tenaris's origins

    Techint constructed and then operated two seamless steel tube plants, Tamsa in Veracruz (Mexico) and Siderca in Campana (Argentina). Both plants began production in 1954. After the acquisition of Dalmine in the ‘90s and other integrations around the world, the Tenaris brand was born. In 2002, Tenaris went public. Today its shares are listed on three stock exchanges: the New York Stock Exchange, Milan, and Mexico.
  • 1969

    Ternium, a fully integrated operation

    A flat steel cold-rolling facility was built in Ensenada (Argentina), which was meant to be the first step of a planned fully integrated operation. After a series of strategic acquisitions, in 2005 Ternium was created and became the leading producer of flat and long steel products in Latin America. In 2006, Ternium began trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
  • 1988

    Health care projects with Humanitas

    Techint Group enters the health services sector to promote, implement and manage health care projects in Italy. Humanitas is the holding company which includes Istituto Clinico Humanitas, a state-of-the-art hospital and medical research institute built by Techint near Milan and 8 other hospitals in Milan, Bergamo, Turin, Catania and Castellanza. In 1999, the Humanitas Foundation was created for the purpose of helping patients and their caregivers from a practical and psychological perspective. In 2014, Humanitas University was born.



  • 1990

    The expansion of Tecpetrol

    During this decade the Techint Group led important oil & gas exploration and production operations in Argentina through Tecpetrol. In view of the results, the company's growth plan expanded to reach Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia and Venezuela.
  • 2007

    Tenova´s consolidation and integration

    Important international acquisitions of leading companies took place under the Tenova brand, establishing a major supplier of advanced technologies, products and services for the metals and mining industry. Today Tenova operates in 19 countries and its product lines include green innovative technologies.
  • 2017

    Other milestones for Humanitas, Tenaris and Tecpetrol

    • HumanitasUniversity Campus was inaugurated in Milan.
    • Tenaris inaugurated its greenfield seamless facility in Bay City, Texas.
    • Tecpetrol launched the project for the mass development of unconventional resources in Vaca Muerta shale formation at the Fortín de Piedra field in Argentina.
