Education Day Celebrations in Campana, Argentina.
Roberto Rocca Education Day, the Techint Group's annual education gathering, brought together more than 1,700 students, teachers, education leaders, public authorities, Group executives and community representatives across five communities — Campana, Monterrey, Veracruz, Santa Cruz and Nigeria. Activities included educational debates, panels with specialists, technical and innovation courses, and exhibitions of student projects. More than 820 secondary and university scholarships were awarded during the gatherings.
What is Roberto Rocca Education Day?
The day honors Roberto Rocca's legacy in education and reflects a conviction the Group has held for decades: without a skilled workforce, there is no sustainable industrial development. It is held across all Techint Group companies and brings together the communities where they operate to reflect on the transformative role of education and its impact on social and productive development.
The event in Argentina
Around 450 people took part in the fifth edition, held at the Roberto Rocca Technical School in Campana, Argentina, alongside a new Open Exhibition of Student Projects. Andrea Previtali, President of Tenaris Southern Cone, opened the day by recalling that, according to global studies, 40% of the skills needed by 2030 will differ from those developed today. Across four thematic panels and a closing conference, specialists debated the challenges of technical education, the link between learning and employability, and the impact of generative AI on teaching.
In her closing remarks, Erika Bienek, Chief Community Relations Officer of the Techint Group, connected education to industry with a striking figure: the Group needs to interview 10,500 people to fill 3,500 positions, with candidates' greatest difficulties appearing in basic skills. “Without industry there is no employment, and without industry there is no development for a country. We need to work together, from education and from employment,” she said.
Gatherings in Mexico and Brazil
The day was also marked in Mexico and Brazil. In Mexico, Roberto Rocca scholarships were awarded to secondary, technical and engineering students. In Santa Cruz, Brazil, the school held a session with students on careers and artificial intelligence and a separate gathering with 150 neighbors from the community.
César Jiménez, President of Ternium Mexico, led the event in Pesquería, Nuevo León, where 206 students received the Roberto Rocca Scholarship.
Part of a broader commitment
Roberto Rocca Education Day is part of the Techint Group's community relations strategy, which in 2025 reached 1,215,422 people across 19 countries with a total investment of USD 79.1 million — USD 66 million of it in education.
